Brand identity design that starts with a decision, not a mood board

Clarity.Confidence.Growth.

A logo isn’t a brand. It’s the signature on one. Made Right Media designs brand identities for businesses in Boise and across Idaho — logos, color, type, and the design system that holds them together — built from a clear position so the result looks like you, not like whatever was trending the year you hired us.

Most small business brands weren’t designed. They accumulated. A logo from a contest site in 2014. A color picked because the owner liked it. A font that came with the website template. A different version of all three on the truck, the invoices, and the Facebook page.

None of that is a disaster. But every mismatch is a small tax on trust. A customer who sees three different versions of your business in a week doesn’t consciously notice — they just feel a little less sure. And a brand that could be anyone’s makes it harder for your best customers to recognize you and recommend you.

Good brand design does the opposite. It makes you instantly recognizable, it makes every new thing you produce look like it came from the same place, and it quietly signals that the business behind it has its act together. That signal is worth real money, especially when a customer is deciding between you and someone cheaper.

Part of the Made Right Model for Growth

Brand Design is a Confidence phase service. It’s usually the first thing we build after the Clarity phase, because everything else — the website, the ads, the content — wears it. In the Made Right Model, the brand identity is the visual expression of the positioning decision, not a substitute for making one.

Built to be used, not just admired

We design brands the way we build websites: for the people who have to use them every day. That means a system your team can apply without a designer in the room, and files that work everywhere you need them.

Discovery & direction

If you’ve done Brand Positioning with us, we start from the positioning statement and voice. If not, we do a compressed version — who you’re for, what you stand for, how you want to be seen — and set a visual direction through stylescapes before anyone draws a logo. You react to real directions, not abstractions.

Logo design

A primary mark, the variations you’ll actually need (horizontal, stacked, icon-only, one-color), and the reasoning behind it. We do logo design for Boise businesses that need to work on a storefront, a hi-vis vest, and a favicon — so we design for the smallest, ugliest use case first and make sure it still holds up.

Color & typography

A palette with a job for every color and the contrast ratios to pass accessibility standards, and a type system with clear roles — headline, body, label — chosen for legibility on screen as much as in print. If a font has to be licensed, we tell you what it costs before you fall in love with it.

Design system

The rules that keep everything consistent: spacing, layout, imagery style, icon style, how the logo sits on a photo, what to do on a dark background. For clients building a website with us, this becomes the design system the site is built on — the same tokens, in the same order, so the brand and the site never drift apart.

Brand guidelines

A short, usable guide — not a 90-page PDF nobody opens. What the brand is, how it sounds, how it looks, and the do’s and don’ts, with the files linked. Your team, your printer, and your next agency can pick it up cold.

Collateral & rollout

Business cards, signage, vehicle wraps, social templates, email signatures, presentation decks — whatever your business actually touches customers with. We prioritize by where your customers see you most and roll out from there.

Brands we’ve built and rebuilt

We’ve redesigned a telecom co-op’s identity so it could stand next to national carriers, refreshed an accounting firm’s brand alongside staff photography and a new site, and built a complete identity for a surrogacy agency from research to rollout. Some were from scratch. Most were the harder job: keeping what people already recognized and fixing everything around it.

We’ve done this work for:

  • Professional services and B2B
  • Telecommunications and utilities
  • Healthcare and specialized care services
  • Education and private schools
  • Nonprofits and membership organizations
  • Retail and hospitality

SAGE Federation

I am so glad we chose to work with MRM for SAGE’s rebranding and new website. Their patience with our many opinions and my many questions is appreciated, and the feedback we are receiving from our members is very positive. They were also very respectful of our budget and timelines. I highly recommend MRM.

Montessori

MRM did a fantastic job crafting our new website and logos. They represent our school beautifully, we love how clean and easy to navigate the website is. We felt supported through the whole process. They made the experience feel very smooth, and the end result is something we’re excited to share with our community.

Excel Marketing

MRM created our previous website and we loved it! So when we needed an updated design we knew where to go. They are excellent to work with and very professional. In addition, we felt the fees to create the site were very reasonable and well worth it. Thank you MRM!

Red Dog Property Services

MRM got the job done very well! We have had several comments on the quality and design of our logo and website. Roger, David and Chloe are skilled at what they do and had some great creative ideas and suggestions! We are extremely pleased with our logo and website! We will continue to use them as we grow our business.

Design follows strategy. Here’s the strategy part.

The best brand identities come out of knowing who you’re for and what your competitors are already claiming. Our guide to knowing your market covers how to do that research at the small business level, before you spend a dollar on design.
